How to Set Up StreamPlay4K on an Amazon Firestick

The Amazon Fire TV Stick is the most common way our customers watch, and it is also the quickest device to set up. This guide walks through the whole process.

Before you start

You will need three things: your Fire TV Stick connected and updated, the activation email we send after your payment is confirmed, and about five minutes. Nothing else — there is no extra hardware to buy and no engineer visit.

Your activation email contains either a set of Xtream Codes details (a server address, a username and a password) or a single M3U link. Either works.

Allow apps from unknown sources

Fire TV blocks installs from outside the Amazon Appstore until you say otherwise. This is a normal setting, not a workaround.

Open Settings, then My Fire TV, then Developer options, then Install unknown apps. Turn the switch on for Downloader.

If you do not see Developer options, go to Settings → My Fire TV → About and click Fire TV Stick seven times. The menu appears after that.

Install the player

Search the Amazon Appstore for Downloader by AFTVnews and install it. Open it once so it has permission to run, then enter the code from your welcome email into its URL box and press Go.

When the download finishes, choose Install, then Open. You can delete the installer file afterwards to free up space on the stick.

Log in

Pick Xtream Codes if your email gave you a server, username and password. Pick Load M3U if it gave you a single long link. Type the details exactly as they appear, including the port number after the server address.

If something does not work

The two most common problems both have quick fixes. If the app will not install, the unknown-sources switch is usually still off for Downloader specifically rather than for the device as a whole. If channels load but stutter, try a wired connection or move the stick away from the back of the TV, where the metal casing weakens Wi-Fi.
